They settled in the land of Shinar and decided to build a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, to make a name for themselves and prevent being dispersed over the face of the whole earth. See Gen. 11:2–4.

The Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the people were building. He said that because they were one people with one language, this was only the beginning of what they would do, and that nothing they proposed would now be impossible for them. See Gen. 11:5–6.

You can spend time in prayer, read and meditate on God’s Word, confess misplaced priorities, thank God for His grace, and deliberately place your trust in Him rather than in human approval or achievement. One practical step today is to surrender one specific ambition, fear, or dependency to God and ask Him to become your deepest source of meaning and satisfaction.
